34.30 Lbs. Gives Team Dorack, Miller, Miller and Veres Hawgfest Win!
Ohio Game Fishing(OGF) held the 5th annual 2008 Vermilion Hawgfest on Saturday September 20th.
The event was once again hosted by the great city of Vermilion and dawned bright and clear as 105 boats passed through boat inspection.
West Marine provided donuts to the contestants to get their morning off to a good start and
Lake Erie's cooperation greeted the teams with great lake conditions.
Nearly 350 anglers participated in this event from Ohio and surrounding states.
The team of Jerome Dorlack, Todd Miller, Corey Miller and Dave Veres brought a limit of fish to the scales with a total weight of 34.30 lbs to secure first place and a $2500 payout.
The team of Dan Haude, Robert Madden and Neil Benson brought a limit of fish to the scales weighing 33.75 lbs to claim second place and a payout of $1200.
The team of Kevin Moses, Jeff Hewit and Morgan Kiser brought a limit of fish to the scales weighing 29.80 lbs to claim third place and $900.
First place "big fish" honors went to the team of Scott Pochatek, Russ Forkapa and Steve Rachkofski.
Their big fish weighed in at 9.80 lbs and provided them with a payout of $1265.
Second Place "big fish" went to the team of Al Johnson, Michael Shaw, and Carlton GIllum.
Their big fish entry weighed in at 9.6 lbs lbs and brought the team a payout of $775.
The Hawgfest tournament anglers really stepped up to the plate again with fish donations totaling over 500 lbs.
The Vermilion YMCA and Second Harvest Food Bank were on site to accept the donated fish and a representative for the YMCA commented the fish will be used in a fundraiser fish-fry to save their day care program.
Thanks anglers for giving back to the community!
After their day on the water and with weigh in complete, the tournament participants and their families headed over to the Vermilion On The Lake Club to enjoy a great catered dinner, the awards ceremony and some fantastic raffles.
